The Senate Armed Services Committee held a confirmation hearing for CIA Director Leon Panetta to become secretary of Defense. Among the topics he addressed were troop withdrawal and transfer of power in Afghanistan, the potential impact of Osama bin Laden's death on the terror threat, reducing or reforming military spending programs, as well as the threat of cyber attacks and appropriate responses to such an attack.
