| About this Website |
Dear Educator, |
Welcome to c-spanclassroom.org, our web site for social studies teachers that has launched several new features! Members of C-SPAN Classroom will now find:
Downloadable and searchable video: Immediately usable video clips for your social
studies classes. A fully searchable database of C-SPAN video clips, with many available
for download.
Standards-based content: Video clips and discussion questions are linked to national
standards, copyright-cleared for classroom use, and include primary source materials.
New video clips are added regularly, and are searchable by keyword, speaker, or
teaching concept.
A video clips rating system: Web site features allow educators to rate video clips,
add comments, and share them with other educators.
|
In this web site, you'll find short clips of C-SPAN video organized by six major topic areas based on national and selected state standards:
|
Principles of Government |
U.S. Constitution |
Legislative Branch |
Executive Branch |
Judicial Branch |
Political Participation
|
We continue to update the video clips on a weekly basis. These topic pages also include links to PDF worksheets, your favorite archived C-SPAN Classroom resources,
and other primary sources.
If you have not yet signed up, we invite you to become a member of C-SPAN Classroom.
To better serve you, our new site is now a password-protected site, yet remains
free of charge.
Membership gives educators access to the downloadable video clips,
and access to the search functionality on the site. In fact, once logged in you'll
be able to explore the full content of our new web site geared for social
studies teachers.
To view and use these video clips, you must have the free RealPlayer software installed on your computer.
(If you are having problems viewing the clips, troubleshoot or contact us.) In the future we hope
to be able to offer video in different formats.
c-spanclassroom.org is a starting
point with dozens of clips you can use right now—but it is by no means an exhaustive
archive. We encourage teachers and students to visit our corporate web site c-span.org to access thousands of hours of
content-rich video. We also hope you will take advantage of our liberal copyright policy that allows you to record
C-SPAN-produced programming for classroom use in perpetuity.
As always, we are interested in your feedback. We will continue to sharpen and enrich
our offerings, making it even easier for middle and high school civics and government
teachers to bring C-SPAN video into their classrooms. Please feel free to send comments
about the web site and C-SPAN Classroom to educate@c-span.org.
